Even though the Taman Sri Muda flood from last year has subsided, some of this country's people are still concerned, in addition to the locals. The residents must be busy cleaning the home while while continuing to cope with a significant loss. The tragedy that lends different meanings to people in this country's lives also has an impact on some social media users in this country. But what happened there was unique because it revealed the nation's flaws in both the political system and the social structure.

An illustrator was struggling to draw a character, Pak Dogol, and fell asleep. He wake up the next day and find himself in his younger, child body back in 2007. Akmal encountered his grandfather, which was still alive thus determined to taught himself the art of Wayang Kulit and learn in depth about the character, Pak Dogol through his grandfather. As their bond grew stronger each passing time, Akmal wish the moment would last even the inevitable death of his grandfather was happening in that year.

Told through the eyes of a single elderly woman, Grey Scale is a story about living alone and growing old in a gentrifying neighbourhood. During the prolonged pandemic lockdown, new challenges forced her to adapt to the rapidly changing world around her. The story presents the quiet struggles among the elderly in their quest towards independent and dignified ageing.

Evelyn Teh is a multidisciplinary researcher on environmental and urban policy. Based in Penang, she is an active member of several national and regional environmental networks championing sustainable 

development. Evelyn holds a master’s degree in city design and social science from the London School of Economics. While she has been involved in several film projects in the past, Grey Scale is her directorial debut.
